How to Purchase Train Tickets in Turkey: A TCDD Guide

Buying train tickets in Turkey is a straightforward process, whether you choose to do so online or in person at a train station. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to purchase tickets from the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) website or at a TCDD ticket counter:

Go to the TCDD website (www.tcdd.gov.tr) and select the “Buy Ticket” option. You will be redirected to a page where you can enter your travel details, such as the departure and arrival stations, date of travel, and class of service (standard or business).

Select the number of tickets you wish to purchase and the type of fare (one-way or round-trip). If you are eligible for a discount (e.g. students, seniors), you will need to provide proof of eligibility at the time of ticket pickup.

Choose your payment method. You can pay for your tickets with a credit or debit card, or through one of the following online payment systems: Garanti Bankası, İş Bankası, Akbank, or Halkbank.

Print your tickets or save them on your phone. If you choose to print your tickets, make sure to bring them with you on the day of travel. If you save the tickets on your phone, you can present them at the station by showing the QR code to the conductor.

If you prefer to buy your tickets in person, you can visit a TCDD ticket counter at a train station. Here are the steps to follow:

Go to a TCDD ticket counter at a train station and provide the clerk with your travel details, such as the departure and arrival stations, date of travel, and class of service.

Select the number of tickets you wish to purchase and the type of fare (one-way or round-trip). If you are eligible for a discount (e.g. students, seniors), you will need to provide proof of eligibility at the time of ticket purchase.

Pay for your tickets with cash or a credit or debit card.

Collect your tickets from the clerk. Make sure to keep your tickets safe and bring them with you on the day of travel.
